Sunglint on the Alabama Stream

.In this June 26, 2023, picture drawn from the International Spaceport station, sun light shines off the hassle-free waters of the Alabama Waterway in a sensation known as sunglint. When capturing on film Planet, rocketeers usually make the most of sunglint's possibility to increase the comparison between water surface areas and also neighboring land surface areas. In the 1960s, the Alabama River was actually dammed, developing Dannelly Storage tank (the large polishing place at facility left). Building of the dam also reared water levels upriver. This resulted in flooding at many factors along the stream. These disaster area are actually normal of flood plains-- the low, standard places promptly close to larger rivers. In this particular photo, flooded zones look like off-balance, brilliant forms stretching away from the waterway, like at Gee's Bend (facility bottom).Text Credit Scores: Justin Wilkinson.Graphic Credit Rating: NASA/Woody Hoburg.
